Skills
Skills/Spells are abilities that generally deal damage and adverse effects to the opponent. These lead into no other attacks and are finished as soon as the animation is completed.
Combos
Combos are attacks that are opened up by use of prerequisite attacks. Combos can range from 2 to 4 attacks in length. A combo is started when one ability allows the use of the next ability in a chain. For example, in using the Mage's Flame Bolt spell, the Blaze spell will become available for use immediately afterward. Blaze could not otherwise be used.
Casting Casting is defined by the usage of mana, a cast time and a range allowance in using a skill. This is generally done by Mage/Priest type classes.
Dot/Bar Difficulty System
Skill Books
Skills are generally learned from Skill Books. Skill Books are sold by class-specific vendors (though all players can access all other class-vendors). They become increasingly expensive as the required level increases.
CC/Crowd Control
In combat, CC stands for Crowd-Control. Crowd-Control type abilities are labeled as such for their ability to control or manipulate targets. Crowd-control effects generally consist of Sleep-type effects, Stuns (vaguely and limited), Root effects and other effects as such.
Reactive Abilities
Reactive abilities are abilities that are able to be used generally when a passive effect comes into play. Reactives can follow any sort of player-uncontrolled event, such as a parry or a dodge. For example, Assassins are able to use a Counterslash ability, only immediately following a Dodge, whereas Templars can use a multitude of abilities only after a block.
DP/Daeva Points
Daeva Points are points granted to players when they gain experience by besting an NPC in battle. Daeva Points are usually used for special, long-cooldown abilities but can also be used for DP Morphing. Daeva Points take a small while to generate, depending on the experience gained by the player.
Experience Points
Experience is gained multiple ways in Aion. Experience is granted for defeating enemies in both PvE and PvP combat, through quests/missions and through harvesting&crafting. Experience is lost&put into debt through death, which is covered in the (link) Death (/link) subsection. Experience is gained at an increased rate when the player achieves Rested status. Rested status is accumulated while the player is offline. It takes 48 hours for the player to become completely rested. A fully rested player gains increased experience for 1.5 levels. When Rested, a player will be granted a buff called "Energy of Repose."
Loot
To Loot a fallen enemy, a player must right-click on the body. Once the window is open, the player can single-click any of the items, or click the "Take All" button.
Potions
Potions are items crafted by Alchemists, bought by Vendors or looted from Monsters that provide a healing, mana restore, or physical ailment cure to the imbiber. Most potions are on a cool-down timer of between 30 and 60 seconds. See Consumables.
Flight Combat
Aerial combat allows for another axis of combat, it does however come with advanced perks.
Strengths
Every class has specific buffs gained when they take flight to increase their battle potential. In addition, players are granted access to special flight-specific abilities, such as "Throw Dagger" and "Napalm."
Weaknesses
While in flight, defense is lowered and certain the abilities cannot be used, such as aerial shackle and teleport abilities (Ambush, Dimensional Door)
