What are Artifacts?
Inside the Abyss are special interactive objects called Artifacts, that, once activated, can perform a variety of effects. Artifacts are faction-controlled and must be captured before they can be used. Artifacts also grant influence when taken over. They require Temporal Stones (created through Alchemy and rewarded rarely from quests) to activate. The effects range from increasing the battle prowess of allies to dealing damage to all enemies within the surrounding area, or even the entire Abyss.
Activating Artifacts
To activate an artifact, A Legion must first take control of it. To do so, the legion must defete the high protecter defending the artifact. Once in control, Only the occupying legion may use the artifact, and each artifact has a requirement of rank within the legion to use it.Once activation begins, the caster must go through a casting time to start the effect, and an annoucnement is made to the entire abyss that "Player" Is activating "Artifact".
Once used, Artifacts have an effective cooldown that starts the moment the artifact is used. In addition, only one artifact effect may be in effect at any given time, per faction. If another artifact by the same faction is used, the previous artifact is stopped, and the new effect takes effect.

Fortress Artifacts
Fortress artifacts follow a different ruleset than other around the abyss artifacts. Based on the level of the fortress it occupies, the strength of each effect will differ. Each Fortress comes with its own artifact, Fortress effects are status buffs, and last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. And will be given to the entire faction, anywhere in the world once activated.
